This thesis explores the translation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) terms in the subtitles of *Empresses in the Palace*, addressing inaccuracies and the need for a perfect translation system to enhance cross-cultural communication between China and the West.
The study analyzes TCM terms in six episodes of *Empresses in the Palace* using Skopos Theory. It examines drug, disease, and treatment translations, considering linguistic and cultural differences to ensure understandability and cultural preservation.
The research identifies various translation strategies employed, including literal translation, transliteration, conversion, combination, omission, and amplification. It categorizes these strategies based on drug, disease, and treatment contexts within the drama series.
